Fantasy at its best! There is an evil, cave dwelling demon and of course a beautiful princess. There is a battle at sea, shape shifting, gallant soldiers fighting for survival and an evil plot to take over the world. Perfect escapist holiday reading!
The world was calm. People were busy with their everyday lives. Even the seas were calm. The sky was blue and beautiful. Most of the time, the winds created beautiful waves that drove people to the beaches to enjoy the beauty of the sea. People swam in the water without fear. Every day the people’s voices mixed with the sound of the sea and the birds, and a beautiful and pleasant song was created in the mountains, valleys, seas, and sky. This was the lovely song of life. No one was greedy, and people were happy and pleased with their lives.
Adler and Liosa often visited the city. They loved one another. Even the birds and animals of the forest grew eager to see their love and they always sang for them.
Adler’s green eyes held a strange electric attraction for people. Anyone who saw him for the first time would never forget him. His hair was long and golden like wheat grass; whiter and thinner than the flowers, like a golden waterfall flowing from the top of a high mountain. Everyone who he met stared at him.
Liosa was a princess. She was the only daughter of King of Apollo. She was a tall beautiful and attractive girl. Most of the time, she wore a long robe that showed-off her loveliness.
Adler, made Liosa very happy. He was a young and powerful boy. He was tall with large eyes and a small nose. He was a kind person and was even loved by the wildlife in the area. He was well versed in horse riding and fighting and was also a very skilled swordsman. There were very few who could defeat him in swordsmanship. He participated in the Nashilica Castle Tournament every year and courted Liosa in the castle when he was not sword fighting. Adler and Liosa had a celestial love. Adler had never dreamed about acquiring Liosa’s wealth.
Adler lived with his friends Herwin, Lobo and Bevis in a beautiful hut outside the castle. Herwin spent his time with Greta as they were in love and Lobo spent his time with Beronica and they loved one another very much, and they wanted to have children. They were Adler’s intimate friends and they were always together.
Bevis was alone and he did not have a girlfriend. His friends always laughed at him and teased him, and told him that he would not find a girlfriend for himself. But he loved a certain girl who had married another man before she had met him. He had never told his friends this secret and he drank more than the rest of the group. His friends did not understand him as he always hid the sadness in his eyes.
Today, like many other days, Liosa had come to see Adler. She had left the castle to see Adler. She was accompanied by her protectors, all of whom were girls. Inside the castle, there was no place for them to be alone. That was why Liosa had to leave the castle to visit Adler.
Next to Adler’s hut, a river passed through, surrounded by greenery and beautiful flowers. The river rushed down from the high mountains. Very wide, tall trees grew alongside the river and in its surrounds. It seemed as if these trees had been rooted in the soil for thousands of years. Animals such as deer and squirrels and beautiful birds were always at the river. Colourful fish swam in the river. The animals in the jungle were always busy playing. It was green and colourful. It was as if nature had given the people a piece of paradise.
Adler and Liosa, like Adler’s friends, went there to celebrate their love. Every time Adler kissed Liosa’s lips, neck and forehead, he felt as if the whole world was in his hands. Adler did not want anything other than Liosa. Kissing Liosa’s lips gave Adler a strange calmness and he loved her more and more every day. Liosa found calmness putting her head on Adler’s chest and she felt as if she had woken up after a long time and found herself in a fantastic paradise.
They went to the river and it felt as if they were experiencing their last days. For hours, they swam in the water and under the water. They looked at the colourful fish and played with them.
Liosa’s beauty and attractiveness, was revealed in all its finest detail, especially when she came out of the water wearing tight, wet clothes. After leaving the water, they went to the fruit trees and began to pick fruit. Every day, they went to the apple tree first, as Liosa liked apples more than any other fruit. They picked cherries, grapes and pears and after spending another beautiful day with Adler, Liosa would then return to the castle.
She kissed Adler and mounted her horse and returned to the castle with her bodyguards. Adler’s hut was far from the castle, and Liosa sometimes arrived back late at the castle. The birds singing accompanied Liosa as she went back to the castle. Liosa opened the great castle door, and she went inside. The castle impressed every visitor; as it was beautiful. Near the entrance to the castle, there were many houses, covered with colourful flowers that were set into the walls of the houses. On top of the roof pigeons nested. Whenever Liosa entered the castle, women and men would always pay attention to her. They loved Liosa very much. She had a great sense of humour.

Luisa passed the beautiful houses near the entrance and reached the middle of the castle. In the middle of the castle grounds was a beautiful, dreamy bridge under which a narrow river passed. In the river were swans with snow-white feathers, long necks and black eyes, swimming along. The image of green, pink and red trees in the water created a beautiful landscape. It seemed as if a painter had spent years devoting himself to this landscape. There were fantastic lanterns that lit up at night above the bridge. They stimulated the imagination.
Liosa passed over the bridge, enjoying its beauty, and reached the dwarf’s neighbourhood. The houses, most of which were circular or semi-circular, were also decorated with beautiful flowers and plants. The arrangement of their homes fascinated everyone. They dwarfs always defended Nashilica from its troubles and enemies. The people of Nashilica loved the dwarfs as they were very kind. Another thing that amplified the beauty of their homes was the large ancient trees that were hollowed-out inside. People lived inside the trees. They always hid-away from Liosa. Sometimes Liosa would climb down from her horse and play with the children, and that made them very happy.
One day, after passing through the neighbourhood, Liosa reached a fairly narrow path, shadowed by trees on both sides. This path was always full of leaves and flowers that had fallen from the trees. Like a tunnel decorated with beautiful flowers. Colourful birds also nested in the trees and the nests were beautifully made. Parts of the palace of Apollo’s shrine could be seen through the large branches. Liosa, after passing along the narrow path, passed through a large open area. There was a room in the castle where entry was forbidden. This room was named the legendary room. Very powerful guards who were extremely loyal to King Apollo were responsible for protecting this room.
The area that she passed through, on her way to the castle was the venue for training soldiers and for annual competitions. Around the area was a raised portion a little way above ground level for those who came to see the tournament. A tournament was held every year with great enthusiasm, and the winner received an award from King Apollo. Eventually Liosa arrived at the palace through a courtyard. She was helped off her horse to go to her father. Whenever Liosa entered the palace, the first person to meet her was her cousin Ernest. Ernest was King Apollo’s nephew and a strong man. He was trying hard to win Liosa’s heart and marry her, and he told Liosa this, repeatedly. But Liosa did not like him and did not want to marry him. Ernest knew that Liosa loved Adler. That was why Adler avoided him.
Some days when Adler came to the castle, Ernest prevented him from entering the palace as he did not want King Apollo to become too close to Adler. Ernest was the commander of the great army of Nashilica. One day when Liosa entered the palace, Ernest was very happy, and Ernest’s pleasure frightened Liosa, causing her concern. Because King Apollo loved his daughter Liosa could not defy her father’s orders. Her father had repeatedly told her that Ernest loved her and that he would like to marry her, but he had never forced her to do so. The reason for Liosa’s concern was that her father might force her to marry Ernest. All the servants at the palace avoided looking at Liosa, and Liosa understood this well. She understood that things were not normal. Every day, Liosa went to her father’s room. When she entered the room, she saw her father talking to Eliot his advisor. Her father, as always, opened his arms to Liosa, hugging her with a laugh.
In Nashilica, Eliot was the person closest to King Apollo. Eliot was tall and bearded, with long, completely white hair. He was middle-aged and he always wore long, white clothing. He had a handsome face. He was very loyal to the king, and the king consulted with him in all his decisions. Eliot was a mystical person, who was very powerful and did things that ordinary people couldn’t do. He spoke to the birds for example. He also had a magic sword that he would use to fight goblins and devils. All the country and the people knew about Eliot and his sword, and Nashilica’s enemies were afraid of him. He had inherited the sword from his ancestors. Eliot occasionally went to see the castle children, and he told them stories from the old myths. The children enjoyed Eliot’s stories and loved him. People called him a legendary man.
King Apollo was also a middle-aged man. He was very kind. He wore clothes suitable for a king, he was tall, and he always wore a green cloak. He always had a bag in his bosom. Inside the bag was a very large sand-filled hourglass. This hourglass depicted the life and death of king Apollo, and when the hourglass broke or stopped, the King would die. But this hourglass could only be broken by the swords of great wizards, goblins or devils. Of course, it took many years to complete the hourglass. This hourglass also had a lot of power to fight against devils. Using the hourglass against the gurus and the devils, caused them to be either blinded or to die, and then they went back to the light from whence they came. Of course, with each use of the hourglass, more of the soil would run to the other side and bring the death of the king closer.
King Apollo used it only in very urgent circumstances. After the king had hugged Liosa, he took her shoulders in his hands and looked at her with sad eyes. He said to her, ‘My daughter, you have grown up now, and it’s time to get married.’
Liosa suddenly pulled away from her father, and she understood the reason for Ernest’s pleasure. Then, with a trembling voice, she asked her father, ‘Who should I marry? I do not want to marry now and leave you alone.’
Her father was silent for a moment, and he looked directly at her. Then he replied with a smile that was not a sign of his consent and said: ‘It is not clear yet, but it will soon be and you will understand.’
Liosa, surprised by her father’s words, asked him, ‘How is it possible to get married to someone who you know nothing about?’
Her father replied, ‘We will soon have a great competition, and people from all over will come and participate in a race. You must marry the winner. And of course, it’s going to be tough and there will be only winner.’
Liosa was worried ase she knew that Ernest was powerful and that he could defeat Adler. Then, shaking her head, she declared her dissatisfaction to her father’s decision, and with his permission, she left the room.
The king was upset and went to his room angry. The king knew that his daughter loved someone, but he could not afford to give in to her and allow her to marry anyone who she chose to, as Liosa’s future husband would become King of Nashilica after his death. King Apollo did not know anyone suitable. He wanted someone to take care of his daughter, his people and his country well after his death.
One of Liosa’s bodyguards, who saw her looking sad, came to her room. She was named Arilla and she had been a very good friend to Liosa. ‘Do not worry,’ she told Liosa. ‘Your love for Adler is so great and strong that eventually, it will make Adler victorious. Adler will do anything for you and he will endure many hardships. He will even defeat Ernest for you.’
Liosa told her that Adler’s staying alive was worth more than anything else to her, and that she was scared of losing Adler forever. As her father had said that the match was very difficult, Liosa knew that the participants who participated in the event would do whatever they needed to do to get past Adler to get to a great place; especially Ernest, who would destroy whoever came forward to marry her.
Liosa went to her bed and lay down. She put her head on her pillow and slept. Arilla pulled a thin covering over her and slowly went out of the room. When she left, she saw Apollo and Eliot walking into the courtyard. They entered the front of the palace and went into the banned room.
The King told Eliot on the way, that he was worried about his daughter as he had seen love in the eyes of Liosa. He told Eliot, ‘I understand my daughter, but her future is more important for her than her love. She was my wife’s only child.’
In response to the king, Eliot said, ‘Liosa is a wise and intelligent girl, and she knows how to choose her own way in life, and yet there’s not much time left before her marriage.’ As they spoke they had reached the banned room. King Apollo protected the banned room well and this was more important to him than anything else in Nashilica. They entered the room. No one was inside. Even the guards were not allowed to enter the banned room.
Only one box was kept inside that room. Inside the box was King Apollo’s greatest achievement. He had fought for years and lost Liosa’s mother in one of the wars he had fought. The great achievement was a legendary key. In fact, this key was the key to open all the doors to happiness; a mythical and very mysterious key. The key had led to the long years wherein Nashilica, and even the rest of the world, had lived in peace. The legendary key held so much power that it could bring joy and peace to people. Of course, this key could equally well have given birth to bad and evil events. It depended on those who used the key. The people of Nashilica were very happy to have the key, and they were grateful to King Apollo who used the key to secure peace and friendship in the country.
Years before, this key had been in the hands of goblins and devils. They had conquered the whole world and oppressed all the people. They used people for their evil ends. Many people had been destroyed in those bad years. Many innocent people were killed, and many people died of hunger. King Apollo, twenty-five years before, had gone to war against the Gentiles and the Shiites, and in those wars, which lasted one year, many of his troops were lost. He had lost his wife, Liosa’s mother, in those wars. At that time, Liosa was only one year old and she did not remember anything about that time. King Apollo had fought a lot and, with the help of Eliot, who was very young at the time, and with his brave troops, they had managed to overcome the demons and defeat them, and finally he had gotten the key. Since then, the world had been peaceful and there had been no more war.
