In an era filled with self-help noise and superficial quick fixes, author Sam Lysen offers something far more enduring: a deeply personal and philosophically rich work that invites readers to rediscover themselves. His book, On the Questions of Life, is not just a literary offering — it’s a soulful guide through the fundamental questions that shape human existence.

From Personal Upheaval to Philosophical Insight

Lysen’s inspiration for the book reaches back to childhood. ‘Even at a young age, I felt drawn to the big questions of life,’ he reflects. This early curiosity planted the seed for what would become a lifelong dream: to write a book that could serve as a trusted companion and thoughtful mentor through life’s unpredictable turns.

But this wasn’t simply an intellectual project — it was born out of personal upheaval. ‘After taking some hard knocks in my thirties,’ Lysen explains, ‘I discovered that there is always light after the darkness.’ That revelation came as he rebuilt his health, reassessed deeply held beliefs, and ventured into areas of growth he once thought were closed off. ‘In this need, I found the courage to change my life and explore new areas,’ he says, describing a journey that brought its share of challenges, but also immense hope.

The result of this transformation is On the Questions of Life, a book structured into seven chapters, each containing five carefully crafted questions. The format mirrors the arc of personal development — from basic existential inquiries to the pursuit of full self-realisation.

A Universal Lens on Life’s Big Questions

What sets the book apart is its universality. Instead of prescribing answers from a single cultural or spiritual framework, Lysen offers a broad and inclusive perspective. ‘It presents a diverse perspective that does not look at our lives from a single point of view or a specific culture, but offers an unbiased, universal view,’ he explains. This wide lens allows readers from all walks of life to engage deeply and personally with the material.

At its core, On the Questions of Life is an invitation to pause, reflect, and potentially reset one’s life direction. ‘The book opens up the possibility of doing a “reset” in one’s life and giving it a new, customised direction based on personal needs,’ Lysen says. It encourages readers to shed outdated beliefs, challenge societal expectations, and realign with what truly matters.

Lysen believes that everyone possesses a guiding inner truth. ‘There is a universal truth in all of us — a treasure made of love and lightness that guides us through life as a faithful companion,’ he writes. Yet, too often, this truth is obscured by fear, self-doubt, or the inertia of routine. His message is clear: ‘Following your heart means recognising your true destiny and following a path marked by happiness and success.’

A Companion for the Conscious Seeker

Unlike many self-help books that promise transformation in a few easy steps, Lysen’s work is contemplative and grounded. It encourages readers to slow down, think deeply, and ask themselves the questions that truly matter. ‘It honours the values that unite us all and the power of love that, when carried outward, can manifest happiness and material prosperity.’

In On the Questions of Life, Sam Lysen has created more than just a book — he has offered a mirror, a map, and a source of quiet strength. For anyone at a crossroads, questioning their path, or simply seeking to live more consciously, this book offers not just guidance, but companionship. It doesn’t claim to have all the answers — but it helps you ask the ones that count.
